the story...
It was a cold dark stormy night long ago...and the bridge was out, oh no wait, wrong story!!!!

About 10 years ago I started asking around about reunion plans and if anyone knew what was going on. I'm way out here in Seattle, and it didn't surprise me that I hadn't been contacted. My parents also moved to Maryland about 10 years after I graduated, so? I just assumed, at first, that was why I'd been 'lost'.

Well the more I asked, the more I found out that no one knew about the reunions, or at least no one I knew. The long and the short of it is, we all pretty much just assume 'someone' will take the responsibility to put on the reunions and keep track of all of as we head out to live our lives in four thousand different directions at once. I guess, or so I've been told, its usually the 'class officers' from our senior year who are entrusted with the lovely chore of putting on reunions and keeping track of who went where. Having worked at it now off and on for six years, it is no mean feat! Although it may have been easier if I had the original contact addresses and had started 30 years earlier before you all moved eight times and married and changed your names!!!

I eventually found Rick Schultz who was putting some real effort into finding people. I then offered to do a website and help find people and VOILA! The Penncrest class of 70 website was born and has been more or less in existence since the 35th reunion. It is a FREE service and at one point was called the 'OFFICIAL' website. However...(drum roll please!)...it is no longer the official site of the reunion committee...

Now I'm not going to go into graphic detail of who said what, but...this one person felt that she needed to direct this site and me and was quite insulting to me in the process to the point where there was even some sort of question in her mind that I even really DO this website. Anyway I took offense at it and decided with the number of complaints, I really didnt NEED that GARBAGE! So down it came! Easy come, easy go!

The suggestion was that the site and I were not 'classy' enough to do this. Which you know? That really was pretty insulting. Rude comes to mind, oh heck truth be told so many darned words come to mind and I would blister the ears of a truck driver with what I felt like saying, so...I'll just bite my little tongue now!

And, simple solution, I just took the damned thing off line! I mean NEVER MIND, I am busy, I do have things to do, and even if I didn't? Well just because someone's husband and kids tolerate shrew like behavior and scolding does not mean I do!!! this wasn't the first complaint either. One person kindly pointed out EVERY typo, which the typo nazi's are on my list anyway...and then another guy was quite annoyed that some of the email addresses were out of date and felt i should do a better job of keeping them up to date. As in HELLO? How exactly am I supposed to do that, call Homeland Security and ask for access to their database? I mean, hey I do what I can, if it ain't enough, PLEASE feel free to do it yourselves! Speaking of, and how much ARE you doing before you start ordering me around, eh? Cause I will bill you if you'd like me to do some work for you!

Well many of you have sent the nicest emails thanking me for my efforts and saying how much many of you enjoyed having this site. Some even apologizing for the lack of gratitude and good manners displayed by the few...I mean we DO have a really cool group of folks! And it seemed a shame to take that away from the people it was built for because of some darned harpie and her faithful companion Toto! It has been fun for me to do this site. I've heard from lots of you guys and many of you are leading really interesting lives! You've grown into nice people and many of you are good people involved in all sorts of good works and still trying to make a bit of a 'difference' in this crazy world we live in. Soooooo....

So its BACKKKKK, and it will continue to grow but as a completely unaffiliated site dedicated to my classmates to use for their enjoyment and be an opportunity for all of you to find out what's going on with our class now and in the future. IF the reunion committee ever builds a site, I'll take this down and let them manage the whole thing.
